We are currently seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with expertise in cloud technology, particularly AWS, along with proficiency in Go programming and Kubernetes. This role is crucial in contributing to the development of cutting-edge technology. The ideal candidate will work autonomously, identifying and solving problems swiftly while aligning with broader strategic goals. The position is hybrid, allowing for a blend of remote and on-site work. As part of the Control Plane team, you will be responsible for the platform that supports other teams in deploying their services, ensuring the delivery of a robust product to our customers. You will collaborate with engineers from various teams to develop new features and capabilities, implement platform services in Kubernetes, and troubleshoot critical technical issues. Additionally, mentoring new team members and improving engineering standards, tooling, and processes will be key aspects of your role. You will work alongside a distributed team of experienced engineers and collaborate with other engineering, QA, and documentation teams to execute product deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the platform that supports service deployment for other teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers from various teams to build new features and capabilities.
  • Implement platform services in Kubernetes.
  • Debug and troubleshoot critical technical issues.
  • Mentor new team members, both junior and senior.
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
  • Work with a distributed team of experienced engineers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, QA, and documentation teams to execute product deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • U.S. Government Secret level clearance is highly desired but not required to start; U.S. Citizenship required.
  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 7 years with a Master's; 10 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; or 13 years relevant experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Professional and in-depth experience with Go, with strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong systems integrator with an eye for enhancing, optimizing, or increasing robustness of existing code.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes and its ecosystem (service meshes, scalability, volume management, etc.).
  • Experience working in a Kubernetes-based environment.
  • Experience developing and maintaining APIs.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform) and managing virtual infrastructure in the cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in scripting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet with the team on-site as needed in a hybrid schedule.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Kubernetes Operators/Controllers development.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and communication between services.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Gitlab-CI).
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites (e.g., Youtrack, Gitlab, Nexus).
  • DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
