About the position

The State Street Cyber Architecture & Engineering team is seeking a Cloud Platform/SRE Engineer to enhance our cybersecurity capabilities. This role is pivotal in delivering models, insights, and tooling that empower our Cybersecurity teams to make informed decisions, thereby securing State Street's digital footprint. We have multiple openings for this position, catering to candidates with varying levels of experience, which allows for a diverse range of applicants to contribute to our mission. As a Cloud Platform/SRE Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are crucial to our cloud security and operational efficiency. Your primary duties will include undertaking cloud service hardening, managing policy-as-code and associated pipelines, monitoring cloud security posture, and providing cloud security consultation and reviews. You will also engage in cloud security enablement activities and respond to cloud security incidents. Additionally, you will develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based applications within a microservice architecture, supporting our development teams across multiple environments in an AGILE setting to build and manage infrastructure at scale. Your role will also involve writing deployment tools and scripts using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible to automate operational tasks and the deployment of machines, services, and applications. You will audit existing services for potential issues related to infrastructure security and configuration, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale and maintain data CI/CD pipeline processes. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud resources, particularly AWS, GCP, and Azure, and the ability to develop tools and automation for system configuration, deployment, and maintenance while ensuring high reliability and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake cloud service hardening and management of policy-as-code and associated pipelines.
  • Monitor cloud security posture and provide cloud security consultation and reviews.
  • Engage in cloud security enablement activities and respond to cloud security incidents.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based applications in a microservice architecture.
  • Support development teams across multiple environments in an AGILE environment to build and manage infrastructure at scale.
  • Write deployment tools and scripts using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible to automate operational tasks and deployment of machines, services, and applications.
  • Audit existing services for problems in infrastructure with security, configuration, or other possible issues.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to scale and maintain data CI/CD pipeline processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) with administering, installation, and maintenance of Linux versions (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS) in public cloud environments.
  • Deep understanding of AWS, GCP, and Azure resources and their limitations.
  • Solid understanding of Linux Servers, commands, troubleshooting, and administration.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and processes, with a strong desire to help teams release frequently to production.
  • Scripting/coding experience in continuous delivery (CD) GitOps practices with tools such as ArgoCD, Jenkins, CircleCI, or Spinnaker.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes in AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with policy-as-code practices and tools.
  • Experience with Python and shell scripting.
