About the position

The Cloud Security Engineer at UMB Bank will act as a subject matter expert in cloud security, supporting the Infrastructure team in delivering secure cloud solutions. This role involves defining and executing security controls, advising on secure cloud infrastructure, and providing operational support for information security solutions. The position is hybrid, requiring on-site presence two days a week for local candidates, while also being open to remote candidates within the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute public cloud-centric security controls and design secure patterns for various domains.
• Advise application, product, and cloud infrastructure teams on incorporating security into cloud capabilities.
• Collaborate with cloud stakeholders to deliver secure solutions for UMB.
• Deploy and manage security controls using AWS services and best practices.
• Support application teams in designing infrastructure-as-code stacks using technologies like Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Provide hands-on technical coaching to enhance cloud security knowledge across the organization.
• Consult on AWS services to solve business use cases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 4 years of experience designing and implementing secure solutions in public cloud environments.
• At least 2 years of experience with metrics, events, logging, and tracing solutions like CloudTrail or Splunk.
• Strong expertise in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) with technologies such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with automation methodologies and CI/CD pipeline development.
• Knowledge of at least 2 scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, and AWS Config.
• Experience with configuration management and pipeline automation tools like Jenkins or Git.
• Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Amazon GuardDuty, AWS Shield, and Amazon Inspector services.
• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate or AWS Certified Security - Specialty.
• Previous experience in the banking or financial industry.
