About the position

The Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for supporting solutions that protect, detect, and alert security threats within the global network environment. This role involves improving technology, developing cloud-targeted tools, ensuring compliance with security standards, and supervising security events using cloud-native tools.

Responsibilities

  • Identify critical areas for improvement in technology used.
  • Aid in the development and deployment of cloud-targeted tools to identify and reduce risk.
  • Regularly meet with AI, cloud security, and infrastructure teams to ensure cloud resources are configured according to established security standards.
  • Oversee data security efficiency in compliance with governance and policies.
  • Supervise and analyze security events using cloud-native security tools and SIEM solutions.
  • Ensure documentation and processes are well defined for engineered solutions.
  • Maintain security documentation, including policies, standards, and procedures related to cloud security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in cybersecurity, computer science, systems engineering, or related field (equivalent work experience accepted).
  • 7+ years of systems administration experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in handling a large-scale AWS environment.
  • 1-3 years of cloud security operations experience for a large-scale company.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with implementing and running security controls in cloud environments.
  • Strong organizational and leadership capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as Azure AI Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, CISSP, CCNA, CCSP, CCIE Security, or other security-related certifications.
  • Hands-on experience using Powershell, Terraform, Splunk, Python, YAML, JSON.
