About the position

The Cloud Security Engineer plays a crucial role in Latham's Global Security & Risk Management team, focusing on advising on cloud security best practices and managing the Azure security environment. This position involves researching and implementing appropriate security controls for cloud environments, particularly Azure and Microsoft 365 (M365). The role offers flexibility in working arrangements, allowing for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor technical developments in Azure and adapt recommendations to reflect the changing architecture.
  • Collaborate with members of the Enterprise Security Team to ensure other security tools are appropriately configured, including logs, reporting, alerts, and other relevant data from Azure or other Cloud systems.
  • Work with Global Technology to ensure application and development tools within Azure meet the firm’s security standards, providing advice and researching additional compensating controls as needed.
  • Design and implement security solutions that enforce best practices for cloud operations.
  • Complete projects on various issues when needed.
  • Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information retained by Latham & Watkins.

Requirements

  • Exhibit knowledge of Azure Services such as Compute, Storage, Networking, Database, Management Tools, Security, Identity, and Compliance.
  • Demonstrate experience with Azure Portal, Azure Powershell, Azure CLI, Azure Event Hub, and/or Azure Identity Governance.
  • Possess strong knowledge of Azure and security policies.
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information and Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering/computer field is preferred.
  • A Microsoft Azure certification is preferred.
  • A current Microsoft Certified Professional certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an engineering role using service and hosting solutions such as private/public cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience is required.
