About the position

As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will manage and enhance cloud environments, ensuring their security and compliance with industry standards. This role involves working independently with some guidance, contributing to solutions for various security challenges, and mentoring junior staff. You will collaborate with multiple security teams to develop cloud-based security architectures for critical Department of Defense (DoD) systems, utilizing your expertise in cloud technologies to improve data privacy and protect information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, administer, support, and enhance cloud environments.
  • Develop and contribute to solutions for security challenges of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Assess and implement security requirements to protect information systems.
  • Guide the development of cloud-based security architectures for DoD systems.
  • Communicate with various security teams to ensure compliance and security standards are met.
  • Recommend tools and capabilities based on research and knowledge of cloud resources.
  • Troubleshoot, patch, and maintain existing cloud infrastructure.
  • Mentor junior cloud security engineers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with technical support, professional services, or systems administration or engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • 1+ years of experience with general networking.
  • Experience with Linux endpoints, including package management, bash scripting, and network configuration.
  • Knowledge of platform infrastructure in cloud environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical teams and write detailed documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain cloud infrastructure.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • CISSP, AZ900, or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in serverless cloud architecture.
  • Experience with Docker and containers.
  • Experience with endpoint security tools such as Nessus, ACAS, HBSS.
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, PKI/Certificates, and VPN including IPSec/SSL.
  • DoD 8570 IAT II Compliance certification such as Security+, CCNA Security, GSEC, or related certification.
