About the position

The Cloud Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Bank of America is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the next-generation AWS platform. This role involves collaborating with various engineering teams to create secure, robust, and scalable solutions while ensuring high availability and reliability of services. The position emphasizes continuous improvement, automation, and the adoption of best practices in site reliability engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with engineers and teams to design, develop, test, and implement solutions for BofA's External Cloud Platform.
  • Implements deployment approaches using automated continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Responsible for reliability, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve complex problems.
  • Utilizes SRE practices to proactively resolve issues before they impact customers.
  • Analyzes and develops visualizations from large data sets for platform improvement.
  • Implements infrastructure and configuration as code for applications and platforms.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate issue triage and improve operational stability.
  • Promotes site reliability engineering best practices within the team and organization.
  • Participates in 24x7 on-call coverage and performs blameless postmortems as needed.

Requirements

  • 15 years of combined experience in SRE, software development, or infrastructure engineering (10 years with an advanced degree).
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining cloud platforms on a major cloud service provider.
  • Strong experience in implementing and maintaining a Data Services platform on AWS.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, and AWS native tools.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java/Spring Boot, or .Net; 5+ years applied experience in Python/Java.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking and understanding of Linux & Windows operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong experience with IAM infrastructure including Active Directory and Azure AD.
  • Proficiency in creating automation using Python, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as EC2, EKS, or Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of cost management and FinOps model.
