About the position

Splunk's Cloud group is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to maintain and enhance the automated platform for managing Splunk Enterprise Cloud environments. This role involves monitoring system stability, fixing complex issues, and collaborating with various teams to drive projects that improve and automate the system. Responsibilities

• Maintain and fix Splunk's SaaS system.
• Monitor system stability and performance.
• Drive projects to enhance and automate the system.
• Perform CSP instance maintenance and system upgrades.
• Manage CSP server/storage deployments.
• Collaborate with various Splunk Cloud teams.

Requirements

• Proficient in Unix/Linux command line usage.
• Experience in software development and data structures/algorithms, primarily in Golang and Ruby.
• Cloud and container experience, including building and scaling secure services.
• Familiarity with infrastructure or configuration management as code tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
• Knowledge of continuous delivery, testing, security practices, performance, and disaster recovery.
• Strong problem-solving skills to fix product outages and identify performance bottlenecks.
• Desire to learn and adapt to new projects and technologies.
• Passion for ownership and excitement about projects.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Kubernetes and docker containers.
• Prior work with Terraform.
• Experience supporting customer-facing multi-tenant infrastructure (SaaS).
• Ability to write Puppet code and work within configuration management.
• Knowledge of AWS, including EC2 and HA strategies; GCP or Azure experience is a plus.
• Scripting experience in Python or Bash.
• Experience in distributed programming and systems.
