About the position

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join their Cyber Intel team in Laurel, MD. The role involves performing a variety of software engineering tasks including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution. The engineer will also provide guidance to junior team members and develop solutions that integrate or extend commercial or government-off-the-shelf products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java programming, cloud technologies, and agile development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform requirements analysis and software development.
  • Install, integrate, evaluate, enhance, maintain, and test software solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve software problems at a high level of proficiency.
  • Communicate directions and provide guidance to junior programmer/analysts.
  • Develop solutions that integrate or extend COTS or GOTS products.
  • Evaluate project needs and determine tasks and durations.
  • Generate and review designs for technical accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.
  • At least eight (8) years of experience in software development/engineering.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required.
  • Experience with Java programming for distributed systems, networking, and multi-threading.
  • Familiarity with Apache Hadoop, Apache Accumulo, and Apache NiFi.
  • Agile development experience.
  • Well-grounded in Linux fundamentals and knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl).
  • Experience with source code management practices and tools such as Git, Maven, and Jira.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Testing tools like Bamboo, Jenkins, and GitLab CI/Pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Monitoring tools such as ELK Stack and Nagios.
  • Experience with microservices software development techniques and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • One of the following certifications: AWS Certified Developer-Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Elastic Certified Engineer.
