About the position

The Cloud Solution Architect will play a critical role in supporting multiple public health project teams by managing the full data management cycle, including data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, security, exploration, and visualization using Microsoft Azure tools. This position requires collaboration with the Program Manager and Data Architect to enhance cloud application design and resource management, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Present and champion cloud architecture improvements to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
  • Evaluate costs and identify efficiencies in service delivery to customers.
  • Investigate cloud-native technologies to improve performance in support of customer missions.
  • Provide architectural support and guidance to software development teams on Azure cloud services and security.
  • Identify and manage technical risks related to cloud architecture.
  • Respond to customer change requests and evaluate architectural changes in coordination with the Data Architect.
  • Communicate and enforce architectural guidance and decisions with technical teams using Azure.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders to generate ideas and clarify specifications.
  • Delegate tasks to the team and maintain accountability for results.
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analysis.
  • Create and update cloud architecture diagrams and documentation.
  • Identify, evaluate, and demonstrate solutions to complex system problems.
  • Participate in customer software development stage gate reviews and prepare review materials.

Requirements

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience with 10+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
  • Experience in implementing and overseeing cloud computing strategy and delivery of cloud solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Azure Cloud architecture and core services.
  • Experience with Databricks Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Storage, and Data Warehouse Management.
  • Proficiency in Jupyter Notebooks, SQL, R, Python, Kafka, and Spark.
  • Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, RShiny, and Kibana.
  • Knowledge of Azure Active Directory, Security Center, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Defender.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Service Bus, and Azure Event Grid.
  • Solid knowledge of cloud security and monitoring.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting CDC or other federal agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud deployment models (Private/Public/Hybrid cloud).
  • Additional relevant Azure or other professional certifications.
