The Solutions Engineer will be responsible for researching advanced technologies and best practices in the field to find cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements. This role typically exists within a large organization, where the Solutions Engineer works alongside other professionals to fulfill customer needs. As they progress in their career, individuals in this role may start as Technical Architects and advance to higher positions within the company. The Solutions Engineer will work closely with Information Technology professionals to ensure that the necessary hardware is available and functioning correctly for various projects. They will provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions, including time and scope, and assist other engineers in creating practical demonstrations of these solutions. Establishing a framework for collaboration among different departments is crucial, as is the ability to analyze current technologies and develop processes for improvement. The Solutions Engineer will document and monitor requirements for updates related to customer experience and work alongside project management teams to track the progress of initiatives. They must also anticipate potential project challenges and proactively manage them to ensure successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Information Technology professionals to ensure hardware availability and functionality for projects.
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions, including time and scope involved.
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and presenting them to the team.
  • Establish a framework for necessary contributions from various departments and facilitate their collaboration.
  • Analyze current technologies used within the company and develop steps and processes for improvement.
  • Document and monitor requirements needed to implement proposed updates related to customer experience.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives.
  • Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seek to manage them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related engineering fields.
  • Experience developing IT and cloud infrastructure.
  • Up-to-date understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.
  • Experience with software engineering, customer experience, and design architecture.
  • Advanced understanding of business analysis techniques and processes.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with various operating systems.
  • Professional work experience in analyzing computer hardware and software.
  • Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ansible, Terraform, VMWare ESX (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Project development and leadership skills are preferred.
  • Master's degree in computer science or software engineering preferred.
