About the position

The Network Engineer at Elekta plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare professionals by ensuring the reliability and efficiency of network systems. This position involves independently installing, deploying, and upgrading network equipment, as well as participating in network and security planning and implementation. The Network Engineer will also assist in helpdesk support activities and share on-call responsibilities, contributing to a mission-driven environment focused on improving cancer care.

Responsibilities

  • Support network initiatives, detailed network designs and deployments, and coordinate technical issues with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Design, install, maintain, and monitor network systems including switches, routers, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Expert-level troubleshooting of networking issues.
  • Adhere to Cloud access-management incident response and change control procedures.
  • Develop Cloud infrastructure project plans, technical specifications, design documents, roll-out, and test plans.
  • Contribute to Cloud policies and process development using industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior staff and facilitate knowledge transfer to the Cloud Services team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of IT experience with ongoing skills development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve issues under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and well organized.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with a clear sense of ownership and priority.
  • Experience with networking protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VRRP, HSRP, VPN, IPSEC, VoIP, and QoS.
  • Experience in WAN/LAN networking including routing, switching, security, and load balancing.
  • Knowledge of FortiGate firewalls and Cloud Networking architecture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with FortiGate firewalls is a plus.
  • Experience with Cloud Networking technologies (Azure) is a plus.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
  • Understanding of MPLS, VPN, and TLS for point-to-point connectivity.
