About the position

Our client is seeking a skilled Cloud Storage Engineer to oversee the centralized storage of technologies. The Cloud Storage Engineer will play a pivotal role supporting Infrastructure Services in managing the entire storage system life cycle, encompassing planning, acquisition, deployment, daily operations, and retirement of storage systems like Pure, Rubrik, EMC, NetApp, Unity, and others. The Cloud Storage Engineer will be responsible for engineering, designing, implementing, upgrading, and managing the SAN/NAS environment. This role requires troubleshooting storage and networking issues related to SAN/NAS services, gathering requirements, and providing technical planning and documentation for future storage needs on a project-by-project basis. Additionally, the engineer will develop a long-term (5-year) SAN/NAS storage roadmap, including technology selection, sizing, refresh dates, and costs. Documenting processes and procedures for storage lifecycle management to support current and future environments is also a key responsibility. The position involves installing and configuring a storage monitoring solution to track storage health and utilization, as well as creating actionable Network Operations Center alerts and run-books to support first-level support response to problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud storage technologies and a passion for optimizing storage solutions.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, design, implement, upgrade, and manage the SAN/NAS environment.
• Troubleshoot storage and networking issues related to SAN/NAS services.
• Gather requirements and provide technical planning and documentation for future storage needs on a project-by-project basis.
• Develop a long-term (5-year) SAN/NAS storage roadmap, including technology selection, sizing, refresh dates, and costs.
• Document processes and procedures for storage lifecycle management to support current and future environments.
• Install and configure a storage monitoring solution to track storage health and utilization.
• Create actionable Network Operations Center alerts and run-books to support first-level support response to problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
• Proficiency with block, object, and file storage solutions (i.e., Pure, EMC, VPlex, XtremIO, ECS Object Storage, and Unity technologies).
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS managed storage services.
• Experience documenting technical solutions using Atlassian Confluence and Microsoft Visio.
• Solid understanding of NFS, iSCSI, CIFS, S3, and FC storage protocols.
• Proficiency in authoring Terraform modules from scratch, maintaining existing Terraform codebase, and managing Terraform Enterprise Cloud configurations.
• Familiarity with AWS, Rubrik, and other storage providers for Terraform.
• Current working experience in Terraform for AWS and enterprise storage management.
• Advanced understanding and practical application of GitOps methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with command line Git operations.
• Ability to work independently and autonomously, as well as collaboratively in a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Capability to document strategies, designs, and conduct benefit analysis presentations to management.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with HashiCorp Terraform Cloud and Bitbucket Cloud is highly desired.
