About the position

The Cloud Supply Chain Sustainability Impact Manager will be responsible for managing and executing the cloud sustainability strategy within the Cloud Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) business unit. This role focuses on optimizing the cloud supply chain to support environmental goals, driving lifecycle assessment work across cloud IT infrastructure, and collaborating with teams to harmonize sustainability impact assessment methodologies. The position aims to lead industry efforts in sustainability by leveraging data and technology to implement supplier sustainability engagement initiatives and facilitate supply chain transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage initiatives to assess the sustainability impact of cloud IT infrastructure, including conducting Life Cycle Assessment and other product impact evaluations such as product circularity.
  • Build tradeoff and what-if analysis models assessing the sustainability impact of hardware design proposals.
  • Support engineering efforts to build scalable solutions for sustainability impact assessment across the cloud business, providing recommendations and insights on tool development and procurement.
  • Bring lifecycle and hardware expertise to a team of data scientists and engineers, providing insights around complex environmental challenges and tradeoffs related to carbon accounting, embodied emissions, circularity, and other sustainability-related impacts.
  • Advocate and engage hardware engineering teams to drive product design changes that contribute to corporate sustainability strategy and goals.
  • Support the creation of a framework for measuring sustainability impact of hardware design, material, and supplier selection.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and supply chain teams to work on supplier intervention programs reducing carbon emissions and waste.
  • Contribute to cross-company methodology development and collaboration among peers across organizations like CO+I, Device, and the CELA Corporate Sustainability team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistical predictive analytics, research) OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 3+ years related experience OR Doctorate in the same fields AND 1+ year related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated program management on environmental indicators and impact, particularly with respect to carbon, water, and energy.
  • Experience evaluating environmental impact of novel materials and technologies using limited and/or imperfect data, including quantification of uncertainties.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle assessment methods, modeling approaches, data, and applications like GaBi, SimaPro, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the ICT sector, cloud hardware, and the cloud supply chain.

Nice-to-haves

  • Developing parameterized process-based models for engineering and/or manufacturing processes; knowledge of electronic component production (semiconductor, printed circuit board, etc.), raw material production (aluminum, steel, plastic, etc.), mechanical part production (machining, stamping, injection molding, etc.), and/or industrial engineering is preferred.
  • Demonstrable program management skills, including the ability to direct multiple programs.
  • Strong technical and analytical experience in the context of supply chain and sustainability.
  • Strong understanding of circular economy models, and an established network of sustainability practitioners and institutions.
  • Ability to work independently when required, and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to write white papers and detailed process documentation.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically beyond day-to-day execution.
