About the position

As a Cloud Support Engineer at AWS, you will embark on an accelerated learning journey to master various cloud technologies that empower our customers to thrive. Your role as a Cloud Ambassador will involve providing essential tools and strategies to help clients scale their operations in global markets. You will specifically support AWS mobile technologies, including Cognito, Device Farm, and Pinpoint, as well as serverless technologies like Lambda, API Gateway, and Step Functions. These areas are among the fastest-growing in technology, and your contributions will be vital in assisting developers to innovate and create exceptional user experiences. In your daily responsibilities, you will primarily focus on resolving customer cases through multiple contact channels, including telephone, email, and live chat. You will apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to deliver customized solutions and work closely with customers to identify the root causes of their issues. Additionally, you will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing support processes and improving the overall customer experience. This may involve creating tutorials, how-to videos, technical articles, and training sessions. Your role will also require you to leverage your customer support experience to provide valuable feedback to internal AWS teams, helping to refine our services. You will tackle complex customer problems that may involve multiple AWS services, continuously expanding your technical skills and professional competencies. Furthermore, you will participate in the hiring process as an interviewer and mentor new team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment. This position requires flexibility, as you will work five days a week on a rotational basis, which may include weekends. Your schedule could align with various patterns, such as Sunday to Thursday, Tuesday to Saturday, or Monday to Friday. As part of the AWS Support Engineering team, you will be at the forefront of transformative technology, assisting a diverse range of companies and developers who rely on AWS services for their mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities

  • Solve customer cases through various contact channels (telephone, email, web/live chat) using advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Drive initiatives to improve support-related processes and enhance customer experience, including creating tutorials and technical articles.
  • Provide feedback to internal AWS teams based on customer support experience to improve services.
  • Work on complex customer problems that may span multiple AWS services.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and develop technical skills and professional competencies.
  • Act as an interviewer in hiring processes and coach/mentor new team members.

Requirements

  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
  • 1+ years of software development or technical support experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or a minimum of 1+ years of related professional or military experience.
  • Knowledge or experience with system administration and troubleshooting operating systems (Linux and/or Windows) and networking (HTTP/s, TCP/IP, DNS, OSI model, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, CURL).
  • Knowledge or experience with database engines (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Amazon Aurora) and database troubleshooting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of distributed computing environments.
  • Exposure to serverless technologies such as Lambda, API Gateway, AWS IoT, or mobile and messaging technologies.
  • Understanding of cloud computing and security concepts with any cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience scripting or developing in languages such as UNIX Shell, Python, R, Ruby, GO, Java, .NET (C#), JavaScript.
