About the position

The Cloud Technical Account Manager (TAM) at AWS is responsible for providing strategic technical guidance and advocacy to customers, ensuring they derive maximum value from AWS services. This role involves working closely with customers to understand their operational needs and technical challenges, while also collaborating with AWS engineers and service teams to resolve issues and drive adoption of AWS technologies. The TAM serves as the principal technical advisor and 'voice of the customer', focusing on proactive support rather than direct troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advocacy and strategic technical guidance to customers.
  • Help plan and build solutions using AWS best practices.
  • Maintain operational health of customers' AWS environments.
  • Develop close relationships with customers to understand their business needs and technical challenges.
  • Drive discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents, trade-offs, support, and risk management.
  • Craft and execute strategies to enhance customers' adoption of AWS services.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to access and support AWS GovCloud.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline, and 2+ years of equivalent work experience or 4+ years of related work experience.
  • 2+ years of technical engineering experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework pillars and ability to apply them to customer architecture.
  • Internal enterprise or external customer-facing experience as a technical lead.
  • Experience in identifying and solving difficult challenges using technical expertise.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills, especially in presentations to executive teams.
  • Development experience in a distributed systems environment.
  • Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment.
  • Familiarity with AWS services and/or other cloud offerings.
