About the position

The position is for a skilled mechanic at Freeport-McMoRan, responsible for performing diagnostic, maintenance, and repair tasks on various equipment and systems within the Hydrometallurgical process. The role involves working under supervision to ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery, including pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems, while adhering to safety protocols and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of equipment, pumps, and systems in the Hydrometallurgical process.
• Assist with component diagnostics, replacement, and repairs on various machinery including upenders, rigidizers, and mixers.
• Conduct mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance by checking oil levels and changing oil.
• Remove, repair, and install piping and pump components such as valves and expansion joints.
• Operate mobile equipment including hydro lifts, mobile cranes, and forklifts as needed.
• Perform welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) on structures and equipment as required.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• One year of experience in mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Proficiency in welding/cutting (MIG, TIG, Stick).
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and plumbing.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues.
• Knowledge of pumps and ability to repair them.
