About the position

The CLU Portfolio Manager I or II at Truist is responsible for underwriting credit requests and making credit decisions within assigned portfolios. This role emphasizes adherence to risk philosophy and lending strategies while ensuring high client responsiveness. The position involves analyzing financial statements and navigating various credit scenarios, ensuring compliance with Truist's policies and procedures, and building effective relationships with Risk Management and client managers.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite all credit requests, including new requests and credit decisioning within assigned portfolios.
  • Recommend credit structures with respect to quality and profitability within assigned geographies.
  • Ensure adherence to risk philosophy, risk appetite, and lending strategies while maintaining client responsiveness.
  • Analyze financial statements and navigate a variety of financial structures and credit scenarios.
  • Ensure commercial lending activities comply with Truist's policies and procedures.
  • Build effective relationships with Risk Management and client managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training.
  • Entry level experience in commercial lending, credit experience, and/or relevant training programs (for Level I).
  • 3 years of experience in commercial lending and/or credit experience (for Level II).
  • Rudimentary to comprehensive knowledge of commercial lending, underwriting, and regulatory requirements depending on level.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency in commercial lending systems (for both levels).
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or equivalent financial industry training (for Level II).
