About the position

The CLU Portfolio Manager II or III is responsible for underwriting credit requests and making credit decisions within assigned portfolios. This role emphasizes adherence to risk philosophy and lending strategies while ensuring high client responsiveness. The position requires analyzing financial statements and navigating various credit scenarios, ensuring compliance with Truist's policies and procedures, and building effective relationships with Risk Management and client managers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial lending process through underwriting, policy knowledge, credit structuring, and risk assessment in credit request packages.
  • Analyze and/or recommend adjustments to financial statement spreads.
  • Interact with clients, verbally and in writing, on pending loan requests or portfolio management actions.
  • Understand and articulate all Truist Wholesale Credit policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Exercise prudent credit judgment through individual loan authority, if applicable.
  • Keep abreast of changing business and economic developments which impact the loan portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education and related training.
  • 3 years of experience in commercial lending and/or credit experience (for Level II) or 5+ years for Level III.
  • Comprehensive commercial lending, underwriting, and regulatory knowledge.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or equivalent financial industry training (preferred for both levels).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in commercial lending systems (preferred for both levels).
  • RMA - Credit Risk Certification (preferred for Level III).
