Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients as directed by the provider utilizing the nursing process.
  • Performs patient access functions.
  • Exemplifies good customer service.
  • Maintains regular reliable attendance.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with others.
  • Demonstrates proficient use of email.
  • Accomplishes goals set for self and by Office Manager.
  • Completes patient care assignments as directed by provider and clinical protocol, reporting significant findings to the provider.
  • Prepares clinic areas for patient care at the beginning of the shift and secures clinic areas nightly.
  • Proficient in EPIC, including retrieving patient records, entering patient data, and locking records.
  • Greets patients on arrival and registers them, entering patient data into the Health Information system.
  • Admits patients, taking brief history and vitals.
  • Performs procedure set-up and assists provider as indicated.
  • Discharges patients with prescriptions/instructions and documents in patient's chart.
  • Maintains adequate medical supply and medication inventory.
  • Schedules surgeries or referrals as ordered, attains prior authorizations for surgeries when needed, and provides patient education and instruction information.
  • Familiar with policies in Policystat, including nursing, registration, and disaster policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Office Manager.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or medical assistant program.
  • Current LPN license in the State of Indiana.
  • Certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant certification.
  • General knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
  • Educated in basic pharmacology and the administration of medications.
  • CPR provider certification within 6 months.
