About the position

The CMM Operator is responsible for ensuring that products meet dimensional specifications as per customer drawings and instructions. This role involves performing complex setups and inspections using various measuring tools and equipment, including the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). The operator must interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and communicate test results effectively to engineering personnel and toolmakers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly complex set-ups and inspections of castings, fixtures, and tooling on the surface plate and CMM.
  • Interpret test results and communicate these results to skilled tool and die makers and engineering personnel.
  • Interpret drawings, sketches, and blueprints.
  • Visually inspect parts and manually measure them using calipers, micrometers, gages, and comparators.
  • Measure parts with the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), both DCC and manual.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience or equivalent in a related field.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and measuring methods/equipment (calipers, dyers, etc.).
  • Ability to read and understand procedures/specifications and interpret blueprints.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Microsoft Excel (graphs, formulas, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
