About the position

Cortec Precision Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive CMM Programmer to join their dynamic team. The role involves programming and editing Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) while demonstrating expert understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods per ASME 14.5. The CMM Programmer will work under supervision, review engineering drawings, and create automated CMM programs, ensuring high-quality inspection processes and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate good knowledge of common inspection measuring equipment including surface plates, micrometers, height gauges, and Coordinate Measuring Machines/Scanners.
  • Create diagrams and work instructions for inspection processes.
  • Analyze measurement results and provide comprehensive reports to engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, CAD data, and specifications to determine inspection requirements.
  • Create automated CMM programs offline and follow a priority list to work ahead of schedule.
  • Compare measurements to specified dimensions and tolerances noting discrepancies.
  • Perform manual dimensional checks as needed to verify questionable results.
  • Document all non-conforming conditions and analyze data to prepare and deliver reports.
  • Adapt easily to change and operate job-related equipment with or without assistance.
  • Meet the physical demands of the job and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in the sheet metal and semi-industry.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in using PC or Open-DMIS software.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of AS9102 requirements.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply customer-defined standards and specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification or a two-year degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with recent semi-industry machine shop operations.
