About the position

Michael Baker International is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician to perform testing and inspections on construction materials such as soils, concrete, asphalt, and masonry. This role is essential in ensuring that construction projects meet the required specifications and standards. The CMT Technician will work on-site, adapting to various environments and conditions, and will be responsible for conducting tests, documenting results, and communicating findings to project stakeholders. Responsibilities

• Perform project materials sampling and testing, particularly concrete.
• Conduct temperature and air content tests on concrete samples.
• Execute concrete slump tests to assess consistency.
• Prepare strength samples for laboratory testing after field curing.
• Conduct compaction testing and bearing capacity testing of soils.
• Document and report on the quality of work observed and any defects or non-compliances.

Requirements

• Minimum of 0-5 years' experience in construction materials testing or related field.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with NCDOT/M&T considered a plus.
• Preferred certifications: NCDOT QMS Asphalt, ABC Sampling, Borrow Pit Sampling, Conventional Density, ACI/NCDOT Concrete, and Level II E&SC.
• Familiarity with commercial, industrial, vertical, and horizontal construction inspection preferred but not required.
• Proficient in computer skills including MS Office, iPad OS, Windows OS, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in construction project management or oversight.
• Additional certifications in construction materials testing.
