About the position

The CNA I - Unit Secretary position at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is a full-time role that combines the responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant with secretarial duties. This position is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the Interventional Services department. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks that require specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures. This includes scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and compiling medical charts and reports. The role is critical in maintaining the flow of information and ensuring that patient care is prioritized and efficiently managed. In addition to the administrative duties, the CNA I will coordinate assigned unit activities, manage patient records by assembling and filing information, and process physician orders by transcribing and entering them into the computer system. The position also involves coordinating the safe transport of patients and other items as directed, ensuring that all activities comply with Northern Light Health policies and procedures. The CNA I is expected to maintain a safe environment, report any hazards, and address violations of patient safety protocols when observed. Furthermore, the role may require the individual to accept additional responsibilities as requested, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the healthcare team. The position offers a sign-on bonus of $3,500, with half paid upon the first paycheck and the remainder after six months of service, contingent upon a one-year commitment to the organization. Responsibilities

  • Coordinates assigned unit activities.
  • Manages patient records (e.g. assembles patient records, files patient information, etc.).
  • Processes physician orders (e.g. transcribes physician's orders, flags charts appropriately, enters orders into computer).
  • Coordinates the safe transport of patients and other items as directed.
  • Accepts responsibility for further developing professional learning needs.
  • Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
  • May perform other duties upon request.

Requirements

  • Required Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  • Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED).

Benefits
