About the position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson plays a crucial role in enhancing patient experiences by providing essential nursing care under the supervision of Registered Nurses or Licensed Practical Nurses. This position involves direct patient care, effective communication with nursing staff, and administrative support, all while upholding the mission and values of the healthcare system.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers direct patient care as delegated, including oral cares, bathing, transferring, repositioning, feeding, and providing direct supervision for patients requiring it.
  • Communicates and works cooperatively with nursing staff by reporting observations, serving as a liaison between patient and nurse, and updating other staff members through shift report.
  • Measures and documents accurately and at the time of occurrence vital signs, input and output, weights, procedures, personal care, activities of daily living, specimens as directed, observations, dietary intake, and ambulation.
  • Assumes routine coordination of clerical activities under the direction of department leadership and nurses on duty, including answering and routing phone calls, stocking supplies, communicating new orders and test results to pertinent staff, and locating charts and forms as requested.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school education or G.E.D. and completion of a certified nursing assistant training program.
  • CNA certification in North Dakota.
  • AHA Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Proficiency with computers and computer applications in the healthcare setting.
  • Effective communication skills in both written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of experience in the discipline preferred.
