About the position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) plays a crucial role in providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance in a long-term care setting. This position involves working under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) to ensure the physical and psychological needs of residents are met, while adhering to infection prevention policies and delivering compassionate care in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents.
  • Assist residents with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing.
  • Obtain and record vital signs and provide psychosocial support to residents.
  • Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Document resident interactions and care outcomes as needed.
  • Communicate changes in residents' conditions and care concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas for residents.
  • Encourage residents to participate in wellness and recreational programs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of starting the position.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits.
