About the position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) plays a crucial role in providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance in a long-term care setting. This position involves working under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) to ensure the physical and psychological needs of residents are met according to their care plans. The NA is responsible for various tasks including personal care, vital sign monitoring, and assisting with daily activities, all while maintaining a commitment to quality care in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
  • Deliver age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents as per care plan.
  • Assist residents with basic health care needs including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Obtain and record vital signs and provide psychosocial support to residents.
  • Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment.
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, behavior, and activity.
  • Communicate changes in residents' conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs as needed.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas for residents.
  • Assist with wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Satisfactorily complete yearly department specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits.
  • Maintain all department specific required certifications.
