About the position

The CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) position at Gardens at Terracina Health & Rehabilitation is a part-time role focused on providing essential nursing care to residents during the weekends from 7 am to 3 pm. This facility is a 30-bed transitional and skilled nursing community that prides itself on offering a boutique environment with individualized service offerings. The primary goal of this position is to enrich the quality of life for residents by delivering compassionate and personalized care in accordance with their assessment and care plans. As a CNA, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine daily nursing care tasks. This includes assisting residents with personal care activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. You will also be involved in household services essential to health care, including meal preparation, laundry, and light housekeeping. Additionally, you will initiate and participate in leisure activities, encouraging residents to socialize and engage with one another, thereby fostering a sense of community within the facility. Your role will also involve observing and documenting the health and emotional conditions of residents, promptly reporting any changes to the supervising nurse. You will respond to resident requests for assistance and ensure their safety by adhering to infection control practices and reporting any unsafe situations. Furthermore, you will assist residents with mobility, helping them to walk or move in and out of beds, chairs, and other areas as needed. This position requires a compassionate individual who can work effectively with elderly and disabled residents, providing them with the support they need to maintain their dignity and quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Perform simple procedures as an extension of therapy services under the direction and supervision of the nurse.
  • Perform personal care activities including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, skin care/nail care, oral hygiene, shaving, and dressing.
  • Perform household services essential to health care at home including meal preparation/feeding, laundry and ironing, changing/laundering bed linens, and light housekeeping.
  • Initiate and participate in leisure activities provided for residents, encouraging socialization and participation in planned activities.
  • Observe and document the health and emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the nurse.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to resident requests for assistance and emergency pull cords.
  • Promote personal safety and a safe environment for residents by observing infection control practices and reporting unsafe situations to the nurse.
  • Assist residents in preparing and transporting for appointments and social programs.
  • Assist with moving and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
  • Assist residents to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.

Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies/personnel.
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility.
  • Must be able to speak, write, and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant or a licensed Medication Assistant in accordance with laws of this state.
  • Prefer 6 months or more of experience in a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility.
