About the position

The position involves providing personal care to residents in accordance with their individual service plans. The caregiver is responsible for ensuring that residents are neat, clean, and properly clothed, assisting them with bathroom and hygiene needs, and proactively tidying their apartments while assessing potential safety concerns. The caregiver will also be responsible for monitoring common areas of the building for safety issues and reporting any concerns to the appropriate parties. Additionally, the caregiver will transport residents to and from activities and dining, ensuring they receive timely assistance with their needs. The caregiver will document the care provided accurately, including any assistance given within the allotted time frame. At the end of each shift, the caregiver will give a verbal report to the following shift to ensure continuity of care. The role also includes facilitating and assisting with activity programming when activity personnel are present. During mealtimes, the caregiver will prepare and serve meals, assist residents with their dining needs, and maintain cleanliness in the dining area by cleaning tables and laundering necessary items. The caregiver is expected to maintain a clean and orderly environment, provide one-on-one support to engage residents in activities, and apply a "5 Star" customer service approach in all aspects of their job. They will work closely with residents and their families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care, actively supporting the organization's commitment to quality service and continual improvement. Adherence to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct is essential, and any known or suspected violations must be reported to management. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review log book and assignment sheets for updates at the start of each shift.
  • Assure that residents are neat, clean, and properly clothed.
  • Assist residents with bathroom and hygiene needs.
  • Tidy apartments while assessing potential safety concerns.
  • Monitor common areas for safety issues and report as needed.
  • Transport residents to and from activities and dining.
  • Provide SAMM assistance within the allotted time frame.
  • Accurately document care provided, including SAMM timely.
  • Give verbal report at shift change to the following shift.
  • Facilitate and assist with activity programming when personnel are present.
  • Perform mealtime duties including making coffee, serving meals, and cleaning up afterward.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Provide one-on-one support to engage residents in activities or provide a calming space when needed.
  • Apply a "5 Star" customer service approach in all aspects of the job.
  • Work with residents and families to develop and implement person-centered care strategies.
  • Support the organization's commitment to quality objectives and continual improvement.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Report any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Certification as a Nurse Aide in the State of MA.
  • One year experience in an elder care setting preferred.
