About The Position
The position involves performing basic patient care activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The primary focus is on assisting patients with their daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and safety. This role is crucial in maintaining the overall well-being of patients in a healthcare setting, whether it be in an acute care or long-term care environment. The individual will be responsible for monitoring patients, collecting vital information, and documenting it accurately in the medical records. This includes performing bedside testing as necessary and providing basic patient care to meet the needs of the patients. In addition to direct patient care, the role requires constant communication with nursing staff regarding any changes in patient conditions or status. The individual will also be responsible for delivering food trays and nourishment to patients, transporting specimens to the laboratory, and moving x-rays and other necessary equipment. Basic clerical duties may also be required, along with ensuring the cleanliness of the unit, equipment, and work area. Inventory management of supplies and equipment is also a key responsibility, ensuring that all necessary items are available for patient care. The position requires a basic understanding of nursing principles and practices, as well as the ability to demonstrate age-related competencies to address the specific needs of patients across different age groups. The individual must also handle information with confidentiality and security, cooperating fully in all risk management, quality management, and safety activities.
