About the position

As a DevSecOps Engineer at Applied Insight, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of federal government customers by leveraging advanced technologies and quality analysis. Your work will involve architecting and managing cloud networking solutions primarily in AWS and Azure environments, applying concepts such as transit gateways and VPC peering. You will be responsible for configuring and deploying virtualized routers and firewalls, managing resources across various cloud platforms, and automating processes using popular DevOps tools and scripting languages. Your contributions will extend to deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters, implementing Single-Sign-On solutions, and developing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions. You will also focus on hardening security across multiple layers and integrating logging solutions to ensure robust monitoring and troubleshooting of cloud services. In this role, you will collaborate closely with management and peers to continuously improve deployment processes and timeliness. You will be expected to create and maintain comprehensive documentation, contribute to code repositories, and assist in code reviews. The position offers a flexible work environment, with a majority of the work being remote, allowing you to balance your professional and personal commitments effectively. Your expertise will be vital in solving real-world problems on missions that matter, working alongside a team that values innovation and commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and manage cloud networking solutions in AWS and/or Azure.
  • Configure and deploy virtualized routers and firewalls.
  • Manage and provision resources within AWS, Azure, GCP, and other cloud environments.
  • Automate processes using DevOps tools and scripting languages.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters.
  • Implement Single-Sign-On (SSO) solutions with MFA and SAML integration.
  • Develop and manage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions.
  • Harden security at the cloud provider, networking, and OS layers.
  • Integrate logging solutions to EFK Stacks (ElasticSearch, Fluentd, Kibana).
  • Perform deep-level troubleshooting of cloud services and applications.
  • Create and continuously update documentation for processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Experience with cloud automation, CI/CD, or serverless tools.
  • Experience working with JSON or YAML for Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with implementing, troubleshooting, and securing cloud networks (TCP/IP, Layer 3 Routing, BGP, Firewall Security).
  • Cloud experience with AWS and Azure, including knowledge of best practices.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Linux configuration management and system administration.
  • Experience with configuring and deploying containers.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Gitlab, Jenkins).
  • Experience developing using cloud infrastructure with containers and orchestration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Firewall configuration and management experience.
  • AWS Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Administrator Associate Certification.
  • Azure Administrator Associate, Developer Associate, DevOps Solutions, DevOps Engineer Expert certifications.
  • Knowledge of Cloud-Native Architectures and Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience in Zero Trust Architectures.
