About the position

The Senior Sales Engineer at Lacework plays a pivotal role in providing technical sales support within the direct sales organization. This position is not just about driving sales; it involves being a trusted technical advisor to potential customers, helping them understand the benefits of Lacework's solutions. The Senior Sales Engineer will engage in various activities, including product demonstrations, objection handling, and building relationships with key stakeholders. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, communication skills, and organizational abilities, as the engineer will be responsible for mentoring junior sales engineers and guiding them through the sales process. In this role, the Senior Sales Engineer will work closely with the direct sales team to identify and qualify business opportunities. They will be tasked with identifying key technical objections from customers and developing strategies to overcome these challenges. The engineer will own the technical relationship with Lacework's customers, which includes conducting proof-of-concept work and coordinating additional technical resources as needed. Delivering hands-on demonstrations to customers is a critical aspect of this role, showcasing Lacework's value in real-world environments. Additionally, the Senior Sales Engineer will recommend security best practices and advise on cloud architecture, platforms, and application infrastructure necessary for implementing a comprehensive cloud security solution based on Lacework's offerings. They will also be responsible for providing constructive feedback from customers to the product management team to enhance the Lacework solution. The role does involve some travel, as the engineer will need to engage with customers outside of their office or home office to facilitate sales efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the direct sales team to identify and qualify business opportunities.
  • Identify key customer technical objections and develop strategies to resolve technical blockers.
  • Own the technical relationship with Lacework's customers, including proof-of-concept work and coordination of additional technical resources.
  • Deliver demos to customers and work hands-on to demonstrate Lacework's value in customer environments.
  • Recommend security best practices, cloud architecture, platforms, and application infrastructure for implementing cloud security solutions.
  • Provide constructive feedback from customers to product management to improve the Lacework solution.
  • Engage in selling activities, including travel as needed to make a sale.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a technical sales engineer in a cloud computing environment or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience presenting and delivering technical demos to executives, architects, and technical staff.
  • Ability to log in to a Linux console and write a simple Bash script.
  • Understanding of tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.

Nice-to-haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent certification from Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience in cloud deployments, particularly related to security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn and work with new emerging technologies in the cloud/IT technology space.
  • Previous DevOps/DevSecOps experience.
  • Previous compliance audit experience (either as an auditor or being audited).
