About the position

The CNC Lathe Machinist position at a leading Aerospace company in Tempe involves operating CNC lathe machines without the need for programming. The role focuses on loading, unloading, and monitoring machines to ensure quality production of work-pieces while adhering to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, start, and stop CNC lathe machines.
• Monitor feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
• Detect dull cutting tools and excessive vibration during operation.
• Measure dimensions of finished work-pieces using precision measuring instruments.
• Calculate and set machine movements according to drawing specifications.
• Adjust machine feeds and speeds, change cutting tools, and adjust machine controls as needed.
• Set up fixtures, tools, and programs for repeat jobs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist.
• Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Familiarity with inspection techniques for machinists.
• Understanding of SPC charts and tools.
• Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Experience with machine applications and tooling fixtures.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic knowledge of trigonometry.
• Ability to use basic mathematics to solve problems.
• Knowledge of basic hand tools and their maintenance.
