About the position

The CNC Lathe Technician at Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is responsible for performing CNC turning operations, including programming, setup, and running parts on a 3-axis machine. This role is crucial to the Prototype Engineering team, ensuring high-quality, technology-based services are delivered on time and within budget. The technician will also conduct in-process inspections and maintain CNC machines, contributing to a collaborative work environment with a team of engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Program, setup, and run parts on a 3-axis CNC machine independently.
• Conduct in-process inspections using mics, calipers, and optical comparators.
• Inspect parts for visual defects and workmanship after machining operations.
• Interpret blueprints and apply GD&T knowledge.
• Deburr and clean components before and after machining operations.
• Maintain traceability on material alloys and raw materials for each job.
• Perform basic maintenance on CNC machines and maintain workspace professionalism.
• Enter inspection data using basic computer skills.

Requirements

• 4-8 years of experience in CNC turning operations required.
• Ability to obtain a clearance through the DoD security background investigation process.
• Good mechanical skills and experience in CNC operations.
• High standard of quality and efficiency in work.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic PC knowledge including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to work in a physical capacity, lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Must be a US Citizen and have a valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with HAAS and Doosan CNC machines.
• Any milling or other manufacturing experience would be beneficial.
• College degree is not required but beneficial.
• Past or present military personnel are encouraged to apply.
