About the position

Amentum is seeking a CNC Machine Repair Technician IV to join the Facilities - Operation and Maintenance Team in Durham, NC. This role serves as a subject matter expert responsible for maintaining, developing, executing, and continuously improving preventative and predictive maintenance activities at the client's facility. The technician will work with various automated equipment, including CNC machines, and will be involved in troubleshooting, servicing, and documenting the electrical, mechanical, and control needs of these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs Machine Tools and equipment.
  • Understands and calibrates instrumentation and equipment for optimum performance.
  • Reads and understands electrical/electronic and mechanical schematics.
  • Programs and modifies ladder logic and function block languages.
  • Programs, modifies, and interfaces with various MMI (HMI) devices.
  • Utilizes electronic data communication methods such as Profibus, SCADA, and Ethernet.
  • Demonstrates understanding of AC/DC motor control and thyrister drives.
  • Applies knowledge of laser and optics machine vision systems.
  • Understands hydraulic and pneumatic systems related to electronic controls.
  • Implements automated solutions with control schemes.
  • Identifies and recommends upgrades to improve maintenance and operation methods.
  • Develops and monitors work assignments for other technicians.
  • Creates and modifies site operations procedures for equipment reliability improvements.
  • Responds to customer feedback on work orders, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Enforces safety regulations and performs job hazard analysis.
  • Operates various diagnostic and testing instruments for troubleshooting and repair.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational credentials.
  • Five years of experience as a Machine Tool Technician in an industrial production environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of experience in electrical/electronics is a plus.
  • Associate's degree or technical training in Machine Tool Technology, CNC Programming, Electronic Controls, Electronics Engineering Technology, or Automated Manufacturing Technology is highly desired.
