About the position
The CNC Machine Shop & Production Assistant at Kulas LLC is a full-time role focused on supporting the machining and production team in achieving production, quality, and safety goals. The position requires a strong mechanical background and experience with CNC machines, particularly HAAS. The assistant will be involved in various tasks including machine operation, quality control, and general maintenance within a firearms manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Machinist with CNC machine operation
- Stage raw materials for machine production
- Perform secondary operations, such as parts washing, deburring, blasting, lasering, etc.
- Maintain quality control by verifying the accuracy of machined parts against standard sample parts
- Empty machine chips
- Monitor machine coolant levels and refill as necessary
- Perform general warehouse duties, such as cleaning machines, sweeping, and taking out trash
- Shop maintenance, oil services, trailer repairs, machine repairs
- Other similar machine shop tasks as needed
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Requirements
- Familiarity with setting up and operating CNC machines (Preferably HAAS)
- Ability to read and write in English, to work from written instructions, and perform simple calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Ability to use manual and power hand tools
- Ability to use common measuring tools (calipers, tape measure, drill gauge, etc.)
- Machine shop work experience and general mechanical knowledge
