About the position

CNC Machinist II-III at AST SpaceMobile will be responsible for the execution and support of all machining activities related to the production of products. This role involves creating CNC programs for new development projects directly from part drawings, as well as developing CNC programs that work with setups and fixtures to ensure optimal quality and minimal production time. The machinist will set up and operate a variety of machine tools, including HAAS Lathe and 3, 4, and 5 axis milling machining centers, to manufacture metallic and composite parts to exacting tolerances and dimensions. The CNC Machinist will download and run CNC programs necessary for the production of 3, 4, and 5 axis parts, conduct machine setups by installing and adjusting various components such as chucks, tools, attachments, and vices. The role requires interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications, as well as verifying settings by measuring positions and first-run parts to ensure compliance with international standards and engineering drawings. The machinist will utilize a variety of hand tools and precision measuring instruments to determine the materials, parts, and equipment required for production. In addition to operating precision machine tools to create original parts, tools, mechanisms, and devices, the CNC Machinist will solve problems related to work-holding arrangements, unusual materials, machine settings, and tools. Maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations is crucial, as is maintaining continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. The machinist will also be responsible for documenting actions by completing production work instructions and updating job knowledge through educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
