About the position

The CNC Machinist operates Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling machines to perform rough and finish machining on castings, ensuring compliance with customer and company specifications. This role involves setting up machines, editing CNC programs, and maintaining quality standards while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run multiple CNC milling machines as needed.
  • Complete cleanup and preventative maintenance of machines during programmed machine runs.
  • Edit and develop CNC programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee new CNC program testing and debugging.
  • Create and implement production procedures, documentation, and communications.
  • Check tool offsets and controller program functions.
  • Review and follow technique cards, set-up cards, and tooling sheets.
  • Select proper tooling for machine operation as directed.
  • Ensure quality of tooling.
  • Complete Fork Lift Driving Safety Training as assigned.
  • Meet all production and quality standards.
  • Comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies, and procedures while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work required overtime as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Requirements

  • Completion of CNC machine technology program and at least 2 years of machining experience including targeting, CNC machining, programming, and blueprint reading, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow specifications on Technique cards, job plans, Quality Control Manuals, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Ability to perform advanced shop math.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex machining issues as they arise.
  • Thorough knowledge of tooling and set-up procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to interact/coordinate activities with others.
  • Ability to read and use mechanical measuring devices.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with x-ray machine operation and radiography techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
