About the position

The CNC Machinist/Programmer at Primetals Technologies is responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of CNC machines, as well as manual machining tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring the precision and quality of parts produced for the steel industry, contributing to the maintenance and reconditioning of advanced slab casting equipment. The position requires a high level of attention to detail and self-motivation, with a focus on adhering to specifications and ensuring operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Performs setup, programming, and operation of CNC machines.
• Operates manual machines such as lathes, mills, and profile machines.
• Makes programming and other adjustments to adhere to established specifications.
• Monitors work to ensure that the machine is operating properly.
• Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts, and in making repairs to existing parts and equipment.
• Determines dimensions and tolerances of pieces to be machined, sequence of operations, and machines required by studying specifications.
• Computes cutting speeds, feed rates, and dimensions.
• Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations.
• Responsible for rigging and transporting by crane large parts and equipment.
• Inspects machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
• Performs housekeeping of machine and work area.
• Conducts daily maintenance checks of the machine.

Requirements

• Current, valid driver license
• Prior machining experience
• Proven ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
• High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
