About the position

As a Manufacturing Inspector at Kennametal Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and precision of manufactured parts. This position is located in Rogers, AR, and operates on the 2nd shift from Monday to Friday, 3 PM to 11:30 PM, with a shift differential of $1.00 per hour. Your primary responsibilities will include visually inspecting parts, recording dimensions, and checking for quality to meet the standards set forth in the work order packet. You will also be responsible for packing, weighing, and labeling completed parts for shipment or storage, ensuring that all processes adhere to documented procedures. In this semi-skilled position, you will be expected to perform routine tasks with a high level of detail, contributing directly to the quality and production requirements of the company. You will work under moderate supervision, following clearly defined methods and tasks that are described in detail. Your role will involve selecting orders based on priority provided by the area Lead or Supervisor, inspecting parts for non-conforming tolerances, documenting any discrepancies, and notifying the appropriate personnel. Additionally, you will be responsible for separating scrap materials and disposing of them properly, as well as using a computer workstation to clock in and out of work orders. This position requires a commitment to quality and efficiency, as you will be contributing to the overall productivity of Kennametal Inc., a leader in industrial technology with over 80 years of experience. You will be part of a team that supports customers across various industries, including aerospace, earthworks, energy, general engineering, and transportation, helping them manufacture with precision and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Select order based on priority provided by area Lead or Supervisor
  • Inspect parts for non-conforming tolerances to blueprint provided in work order packet
  • Document any non-conforming parts and notify area Lead or Supervisor
  • Inspect and package parts according to documented procedures set in place
  • Visually inspect parts as you package using rubber bands and/or packing paper, weigh count, box, and strap
  • Separate scrap and dispose of in proper container
  • Use computer workstation to clock on or off work order
  • Make boxes and print labels for completed work orders

Requirements

  • 1 year of relevant work experience preferred
  • Performs operational or manual tasks, primarily in manufacturing, supply chain or operational environments
  • Has skills developed through formal training or work experience
  • Works within established procedures and guidelines with limited ability to modify methods and approach
  • Performs the full range of established procedures and will typically be considered skilled through work experience
  • Resolves routine issues without lead or supervisory approval
  • Resolves routine issues with senior staff or supervisory guidance and approval
  • Interpersonal skills with good communication working in team environment
