As a CNC Machinist at BW Papersystems, you will be responsible for executing a variety of machining operations, including turning, drilling, and thread cutting on diverse metal components. Your role is crucial in ensuring precision and quality in the production of parts from various ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys. You will interpret drawings and specifications to determine the proper operational sequence, selecting appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds to achieve desired outcomes. This position requires a strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality in the workplace. In this role, you will machine parts to precise specifications using tools such as mills, lathes, saws, and grinders. You will measure, examine, and test completed units to identify defects and ensure compliance with specifications, utilizing precision instruments like micrometers. Additionally, you will calculate dimensions and tolerances by applying mathematical knowledge and using instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers. Setting up, adjusting, and operating basic and specialized machine tools to perform precision machining operations will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring alignment and security of fixtures, tools, and materials. Monitoring the feed and speed of machines during the machining process to maintain accuracy and quality is essential. You will select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for specific machining tasks, ensuring optimal performance. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area and equipment, promptly reporting and addressing any unsafe conditions or practices, is also a key aspect of this position. You will assist colleagues as needed to ensure smooth workflow within the department and perform other duties as assigned to support overall production goals.
