About the position

The CNC Machinist role at Amarillo Gear Company LLC involves operating CNC equipment to machine work pieces according to blueprints and engineering specifications. The position emphasizes the importance of precision, safety, and continuous improvement in a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow set-up sheets and programming notes to set-up mills, lathes, grinders, and other CNC machines to produce parts in accordance with the blueprint and engineering specifications.
  • Run CNC machines to efficiently produce parts meeting specification while meeting production schedules.
  • Verify the shop floor documentation and blueprint have the same revision level.
  • Complete work orders in the order specified by the supervisor or scheduling system.
  • Optimize cutter and/or insert usage to maximize the number of parts machined while minimizing non-conforming material.
  • Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring tools to assure compliance to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Clock on and off jobs, enter quantity complete, enter scrap, etc. on the shop floor scheduling system.
  • Follow all safety requirements. Read, understand, and follow job-specific JSA and work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Sustain the 5S ratings of the work area.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities in the assigned work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with machining certificate from a reputable trade school preferred or demonstrated experience in industrial machining.
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading, use of precision measuring equipment, and general understanding of G-code programming.
