About the position
The CNC Operator I is responsible for operating CNC machines with a focus on safety, quality, and production efficiency. This entry-level position requires beginner to intermediate machining experience and involves tasks such as raw material inspection, machine setup, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and participation in workplace maintenance practices.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates awareness of safety requirements in assigned work areas and wears appropriate PPE.
- Completes raw material inspection and preparation for one or more machine groups.
- Inspects completed parts to drawing requirements using appropriate measurement tools.
- Independently operates one or more machine groups and completes setups and operation cycles within standard times.
- Completes work in compliance with established standards, including process conformance and standard cycle time.
- Contributes to ongoing process improvements at machine centers and participates in maintenance as per the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) plan.
- Accepts training and coaching from supervision.
- Participates in environmentally-appropriate workplace maintenance habits, including 5S.
Requirements
- 3 years of previous machining experience or equivalent approved training combination required.
- High School Diploma/GED or international equivalent preferred.
- Capability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and perform basic mathematical tasks.
- General knowledge of CNC machine setup and operation.
- General dexterity and proficiency in handling complex machine setup tasks.
- Capability to use hand tools and operate power tools safely.
- Physical performance of tasks as determined by supervisor.
- Competence in reading blueprints/drawings.
- English language functional communication required.
