About the position

The CNC Machinist position at Barnes Aerospace in West Chester, OH, is designed for a motivated individual with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. The role involves operating CNC machines, ensuring the production of high-quality parts, and collaborating with engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve processes. The position requires a commitment to safety and continuous learning in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and integrate processes to ensure consistent and capable parts manufacturing.
• Make machine/process adjustments, offsets, tooling, and fixturing as needed.
• Set up machines for accurate first article inspections.
• Perform first article inspections using shop gauging and visual inspection.
• Assist in parts inspection and collaborate with manufacturing engineering on processing issues.
• Take a leadership role in troubleshooting process variations and assist other machinists in problem-solving.
• Meet and exceed targeted production goals while practicing safe work habits.
• Maintain a clean working environment and perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Continuously build technical skills to aid in meeting division targets and goals.
• Learn and adhere to required safety standards and procedures.
• Drive process and lean improvements through knowledge of Lean Principles and 5S.

Requirements

• Minimum of four years of machine shop experience.
• Knowledge of machine shop practices, principles, and operations.
• Ability to read geometrical/dimensional mechanical drawings and use shop mathematics.
• High competency in using precision measuring instruments.
• Intermediate skills and knowledge of Master Cam.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in a challenging and schedule-driven environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SEG preferred.
• Knowledge of Deep Hole Drill, Super Finish, Manual Lathe, NL3000, Mill turn, Rough Lathe, Finish Lathe, Hone, Rework, Grind, Lathe, Okuma, Nakamura.
