About the position
Flowserve is seeking a Machinist for its manufacturing facility in Taneytown, MD. The role involves setting up and operating manual lathes and CNC machines, ensuring precision in machining to tolerances of +/- .001. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, safety practices, and the ability to work with various measuring instruments. This position is critical in maintaining the quality and efficiency of the production process while adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes and CNC machines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Accurately machine parts to within a +/- .001 tolerance.
- Read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.
- Use precision measuring equipment effectively.
- Operate jib and overhead cranes safely.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
- Complete required safety training.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment.
- Experience operating manual lathes, milling machines, or CNC lathes/mills.
- Ability to use and interpret precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and dial indicators.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- High School Diploma or GED or relevant years of experience in lieu of education.
Nice-to-haves
- Machinist certification, training, or degree related to machining.
- Experience in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment.
- Forklift certification.
