The CNC Programmer will operate optical programming (digitizing) equipment to generate numerical control (NC) programs used to control NC machines. This role involves creating computer drafting and graphic designs for projects as needed, reviewing and processing CNC Manufacturing Orders, and utilizing CAD/CAM and Graphic Design software to generate NC part programs for various CNC Machinery. The programmer will also create detailed drawings, sketches, notes, and instructions required for the shop to accurately produce parts. Essential duties include planning nesting and programs for all new parts, reverse engineering using FARO Arm to digitalize/reverse engineer customer parts, templates, and PCM (Photo Contact Master). The CNC Programmer will verify all processing details, streamline the flow of processing between planning, programming, and production, and prioritize and process all orders in a timely fashion to ensure steady production. Additionally, the programmer will analyze drawings, specifications, models, and PCM's to determine program input data such as hole sizes, tool sizes, reference points, and direction of machine cutting paths. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, with design, drafting, and/or graphic design experience preferred. Experience with waterjets and/or routers in a manufacturing environment is also preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strong language and mathematical skills, as well as proficiency in various design and manufacturing software.

Responsibilities

  • Operates optical programming (digitizing) equipment to generate numerical control (NC) program used to control NC machines.
  • Create computer drafting and graphic designs for projects as needed.
  • Reviews and processes CNC Manufacturing Orders.
  • Utilizes CAD/CAM and Graphic Design software to generate NC part programs for various CNC Machinery.
  • Creates detailed drawings, sketches, notes and instructions required for the shop to accurately produce parts.
  • Plan nesting's and programs for all new parts.
  • Reverse engineer using FARO Arm to digitalize/reverse engineer customer parts, templates, PCM (Photo Contact Master), etc.
  • Verify all processing details; material type, machinability, tolerances, textures, etc.
  • Streamline flow of processing between planning, programming, and productions.
  • Prioritize and process all orders in a timely fashion to ensure steady production.
  • Review all P/O's to verify all information is correct for 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Give support to planning and sales department for any specific needs.
  • Support machine operators in all areas of operation.
  • Analyzes drawings, specifications, models and PCM's to determine program input data.
  • Calculates data such as starting point coordinates, size of parts or panels, and number of parts per unit of material.
  • Creates CAD models from interpreted data.
  • Uses CAD model to create toolpaths for machine tools.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Design, drafting and/or graphic design experience.
  • Experience with waterjets and/or routers in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Knowledge of Design software (Adobe Illustrator, etc).
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems (AutoCAD, MasterCam, Catia, etc).
  • Knowledge of G-Code, blueprint reading and GD&T.
