About the position

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer for a direct hire role with a manufacturing organization located in Hillsboro, OR. The person in this role will create programs to run parts on CNC Lathes, CNC Mills, and EDM machines, as well as update existing part programs to accommodate new machining processes and tooling technology. The position offers various schedules, including day shifts (Monday to Thursday, 10-hour days) and swing shifts (Monday to Thursday, 10-hour days). The CNC Programmer will be responsible for ensuring that the programming meets the specifications required for efficient and accurate machining operations. In this role, the CNC Programmer will create and update programs based on customer-supplied files, ensuring that the correct cutting tools are programmed into the system by researching vendor websites. The programmer may also be required to design holding fixtures for part fabrication and assist machinists with program processes. Additionally, the programmer will collaborate with the inspection team to write First Article Inspection Reports and In-Process Inspection reports, providing critical dimensions from prints. The role also involves assisting machinists with part measurements for entries in inspection reports and participating in quoting new parts based on customer prints. Staying current with new versions of programming software is essential, and the programmer may perform machining set-ups or provide production support as needed. Training machinists may also be part of the responsibilities, along with other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Create programs and/or update programs to customer supplied files.
  • Research using vendors' websites to determine correct cutting tools programmed into the program.
  • Design holding fixtures if required, for part fabrication.
  • Assist machinists with program processes.
  • Assist inspection in writing First Article Inspection Reports and In Process Inspection reports, giving critical dimensions from prints.
  • Assist machinists with part measurements for entries for First Article Inspection and In-Process Inspection reports.
  • Participate in quoting new parts to customers' print.
  • Stay current with new versions of programming software.
  • May perform machining set-ups or production support in the department as required.
  • Assist with training machinists.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience programming CNC Mills, Lathes 3, 4 and 5 axis machines.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including machining experience.
  • High level of math skill, including statistics, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios and percentages.
  • Experience using current version of MasterCam.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Experience programming with ESPRIT preferred.
