About the position

As a CNC Programmer at Leslie Controls, you will play a vital role in the production process by creating and refining CNC programs and essential documentation. This position is crucial for evaluating, developing, and troubleshooting CNC machining processes, selecting optimal cutting tools, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure production efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees across all functions of the organization.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to develop machining solutions for both new and old products.
  • Support production by providing technical advice to shop supervision and management.
  • Identify and document methods, tooling, feeds, speeds, and all other necessary information for efficient and controlled manufacturing of parts.
  • Review and obtain required information from tool drawings, fixture drawings, part prints, and associated documents to develop efficient CNC programs and related materials.
  • Identify and recommend new or revised fixtures, equipment, software, and process improvements to support manufacturing and its customers.
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, engineers, and others to optimize processes.
  • Advance personal knowledge of manufacturing technology, CNC programming, CAM software, and machining technology.
  • Participate in or lead special projects as needed.
  • Provide process support and training as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience ensuring repeatability and precision in manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to handle challenges professionally and maintain resilience under stress.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect data, analyze results, and draw conclusions.
  • Competency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, including GD&T.
  • Proficient in shop math, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Skilled in machining various materials, such as cast iron, steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, Inconel, and titanium.
  • In-depth knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and metal-cutting technologies.
  • Proficiency in Esprit or Mastercam CAM software; experience with Applicon-based programming, Renishaw probe software, and Macro programming is a plus.
  • Ability to program 3-, 4-, and 5-axis equipment.
  • A proven record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
