About the position

The CNC Programmer at Northern Star Millwork, LLC is responsible for operating CNC machinery to produce architectural millwork and casework for commercial projects. This role requires expertise in CNC programming, machine setup, and troubleshooting, ensuring that all products meet high-quality standards. The position involves collaboration with other team members and training new staff, contributing to a family-friendly work environment in Longwood, Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to design programs for CNC machinery.
  • Set up CNC machinery to produce parts according to specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance, make adjustments, and ensure quality control of the final product.
  • Create instructions for CNC operators and train new staff in machine operation procedures.
  • Make calculations for programming, including material cutting locations.
  • Check completed programs by running simulations or tests to ensure accuracy.
  • Determine the sequence of operations in a program and analyze job orders for necessary calculations.
  • Write and modify CNC programs for increased efficiency and productivity.
  • Choose and load the correct cutting tools for each job.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certificate preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience operating CNC machines in a woodworking environment.
  • Proficiency in Microvellum, AutoCAD, and other Microsoft software.
  • Expert knowledge of architectural casework materials and fabrication methods.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Good systems analysis and mathematical abilities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining operation issues independently.
  • Highly developed concentration and precision with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various materials such as solid wood, MDF, plywood, and particle board.
  • Strong team player and self-motivated.
