About the position

The CNN News Associate Program is a 15-month editorial training initiative designed for early career journalists. Participants will engage in hands-on rotational positions within the D.C. CNN newsroom, gaining exposure to various news operations and developing essential journalistic skills. This program offers networking opportunities and coaching from industry professionals, positioning participants for potential careers at CNN and Warner Bros. Discovery.

Responsibilities

• Support news coverage and show production in the newsroom.
• Print scripts for anchors and operate the Teleprompter.
• Greet guests and assist with live shots and show production.
• Collaborate with digital teams to research and write stories for CNN.com.
• Monitor social media, wires, and local news for newsgathering efforts.
• Conduct research as directed by producers and desk management.
• Pitch stories for various CNN networks and platforms.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.
• At least one internship in a news environment is preferred.
• Previous newsroom experience is preferred.
• Strong general news judgment and editorial skills are required.
• Strong writing skills are essential.
• Ability to multi-task and make fast decisions is necessary.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are needed.
• Computer literacy and a working knowledge of social media are required.
